We have revamped our menu with a selection of House Special Combination Plates. Moreover we have made prices reasonable. Even the local college students agree it’s fair priced for their budgets.

    1601 Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence is the location of Ken Wok the newest Chinese restaurant to make the scene in North Providence.  Ken Wok opened recently with a bang. The Family style dining room offers an authentic look to present its' Cantonese, Szechuan, Vietnamese, Cambodian and Thai dish's.  Ken and Yan Chau the owners and proprietors of " Ken Wok " like many small business owners must balance their personal life and their business life.  Raising three teenagers while growing a small business has to be one of the most challenging tasks in the modern world.   However the prooof is in the pudding, but in this case the proof is very tasty Chow Mein Sandwich, a new item on the Chinese restaurant menu.

Ken Chau has had a thirty-year history in the restaurant and food service business as a cook, 18 of whick were spent in Fall River were he also earned a BA from UMass  Dartmouth.  Yan Chau an Accountant by training in China also holds and MBA from UMass Dartmouth that now comes in handy working with Ken at the restaurant.  Her first employment at International Marine was as a bookkeeper responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll, all areas of special concern for new small business owners.

Every restaurant no matter how many items there are on the menu become known for one or two special items.  At Ken Wok, Yan and Ken have found that their General Tso's Chicken is a big item hit and the Chow Mein Sandwich is also catching on for Vegetarians and people who prefer a light meal with lots of flavor.  Of course there are the daily specials, a large selection of vegetable and Bean Curd based dish's for vegetarians; but the vast selection of appetizers and main dish's are those that most diners are familiar with when associating food items with Chinese Cuisine.  One other twist that Ken has brought to his new restaurant is what Ken calls "Fall River Style" Chow Mein (Chow Mein with Crispy Noodles). I tried the Chow Mein Sandwich and the General Tso's Chicken and was totally satisfied with the taste, presentation and price; a trio that is hard to beat.

message: FYI: My husband and I took my mother to Ken Wok's for lunch today. First time ofr us at the restaurant ever, We learned that it is now operated by new owners (last year or so). The food was outstanding! Loved the crab rangoon (best we've had!) and my mother and I raved over the Seafood Shrimp, Scallops and Lobster dish: "S-4" on their menu, and my husband loved "S-11". Also, the restaurant was super clean, tastefully decorated, the food freshly prepared by Ken with the entrees served at a nice and hot temperature too.  Additionally, Ken's wife, (can't remember her name) was and absolute doll.  Extremely personable.  She also ensured that we receive the best service! Ken Wok deserves 5 stars! We"ll be back for sure!!!

message:  I am writing this because I am a Fan and I see there are others who have enjoyed also. And when I hear and see the same great opinions from some of the other customers, I know that there is something wrong with the bad apple review comments. The food here is always GREAT, and the appetizers are a great way to start your meal.  If you know anything about cooking food you can tell the appetizers are not greasy other than through the natural juices of the items.  The Crab Rangoon's (which are GREAT by the way), the Won Ton's, Chicken Wings and the Egg Rolls are hot and dry, which show me that they are cooked in fresh oil to Perfection.  The BBQ Ribs.  Boneless Ribs and Steak Teriyaki are also hot and dry with only their natural juices, which to a trained person tells you they are cooked in the broiler as they should and not in the fryolator like many places.  The main course was a delicious meal each and every time I have been no matter if it was the popular General Tao's Chicken, or the Mongolian Steak or simply the Beef and Green Bean's my meals have always been plentiful and satisfying.  My guests have also always been happy with the many choices and fine cooking.  And while I am not one for the spices some of my guests have made special requests on the seasonings and with the perspiration pouring out of their forehead they have exclaimed this was the best Asian food they have had in a long time.

The wait staff are always courteous and helpful and it seems the takeout business is also a major part of this restaurants business.  So as with any business you have to appreciate the work which goes into running such a business and the occasional minor infraction which might occur, but over all this has alwys been a pleasurable dining experience, and I highly recommend Ken Wok to everyone to enjoy.
